Upset at being scolded by her father for staying out late to play dandiya instead of preparing for her SSC, a 15-year-old girl from Ambernath jumped to her death from the sixth floor of her building on Sunday night.
The girl, identified as Saniya Bashir Shaikh, was an SSC student. The incident took place on Sunday around 12.05 am.
"Bashir Shaikh, the girl's father, in his statement to the police said that since Navratri is on, his daughter had gone to play dandiya in the building premises and come home late," said a police officer from Ambarnath police station.

When she returned home, Shaikh told her that she should have stayed home and studied as she is in her SSC year and must achieve a good percentage in her exam, and how it was not good that she was ignoring her studies and busy in other activities.
Ran to terrace
"Getting angry at being yelled at by her father, she ran to the terrace of the six-storey building and jumped. Her body was found on the ground after which she was taken to a private hospital and then shifted to a civic hospital, where doctors declared her dead due to major injuries to the head," the officer added.

Hyder Abdul Rehman Shaikh, Saniya's paternal uncle informed the Ambernath police station about the incident. The police have registered an accidental death case.
