Thane: A superintendent of a state-run boarding school at Badlapur in Thane district was arrested for allegedly molesting at least ten minor girl inmates of the facility for over a month, police said today.
The accused, identified as A J Girase (32), allegedly used to take the girls - all in the age group of 12-15 years - to computer lab in the school in night and force them to watch obscene videos while touching them inappropriately, they said.
"The girls complained to the principal of the school but he did not initiate any action, following which they complained against Girase to their parents," said sub-inspector L T Bhoye of Kulgaon-Badlapur police station. He said Girase was apprehended yesterday on complaint of the parents who approached police with the help of a social organisation. The school, located in Kharav village, houses around 70 students in class I to X.
Girase has been booked under Sections 354-A (sexual harassment) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC and under Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Bhoye said.
