Thane: A three-year-old boy and another aged nine years were killed in separate accidents in the district, police said on Tuesday.
Rabodi police said that a nine-year-old boy died after he was hit this morning by a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation Bus.
The incident took place at the Meenatai Thackeray square when the deceased, Durvesh Giri, a class 3 student, was headed to school accompanied by his grandmother, police said.
His grandmother, too, sustained injuries in the accident and has been admitted to a local hospital, police said, adding that Giri's body has been sent for a post-mortem.
The driver of the bus, one Dnyaneshwar Shetty, has been arrested and a case under relevant sections of IPC and Motor Vehicles Act registered in this connection, police said.
Meanwhile, Kolsewadi police said that a three-year-old boy, Atharva Chavan, was last night run over by a speeding car when he had gone to buy chocolates from a shop near his house in Kolsewadi locality of Kalyan-east.
A case under relevant sections of IPC and Motor Vehicles Act has been registered and efforts are on to nab the driver of the vehicle, they said.
