Parents of a class IX student from Ryan International School, Chembur, registered a case against a teacher for slapping their son in the school. In their complaint, the parents claimed their 15-year-old son was humiliated and then slapped six times by this particular teacher for leaving his collar button open.
"The incident took place in the computer lab on Tuesday. A non cognisable offence has been registered under Section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC," said an official from RCF Police station in Chembur (E).
Commenting on the issue, a spokesperson from the school said, "We follow a zero tolerance policy towards any form of corporal punishment. Based on the parents' complaint, an inquiry has been initiated against the teacher. Stringent action will be initiated against the teacher if proven guilty."
