The civic body's ambitious project to connect all services to one server at all civic-run hospitals has been brought back on track after a delay of several months. Under the scheme, likely to start by this Diwali, every patient visiting a BMC Hospital will be given a special card, which will have all information related to his or her treatment. The scheme is likely to bring down complaints of non-availability of medicines, machines and of mismanagement at hospitals.
The scheme will first be started at KEM hospital, and other BMC-run hospitals will have the facility by January. At present, the software is undergoing trials.
Rs 40 crore for the software
The software is undergoing trials, where doctors have been approached to submit suggestions. So far, 500 suggestions have been made. The software's development has cost around Rs 40 crore. "As soon as we are done, we will start training doctors, which will take around a month," said a senior health department official.
