Residents of Matunga, Sion, Wadala and Chunabhatti will receive low water supply after a pipeline burst at Sion last evening
Residents of Matunga, Sion, Wadala and Chunabhatti will receive low water supply after a pipeline burst at Sion last evening.
Supply will be low until the pipeline is repaired, authorities have said.
Around 7 pm yesterday, a 600-mm diameter water pipeline burst near the Sion-Koliwada pumping station. Repair work is in progress and should be completed by the end of the day.
Rajeshree Rajesh Shirwadkar, councillor of ward 172, said in a statement, "The work of replacing the burst water main is in progress. Hence, there will be no water supply today to Sion and Chunabhatti areas."
An officer from the BMC's disaster control cell clarified that water would be supplied but as pressure was low, the flow would be less. "The areas most affected are in F-North and a few parts in F-South," said the officer.
