Renuka Shahane's sister-in-law gets urgent medical help after actor's tweet

A tweet to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu by actor Renuka Shahane ensured her sister-in-law, 63-year-old Kamini Gupta, got medical attention on board Mumbai-bound Suvidha Express after she complained of palpitations and chest pain on Saturday evening.

Shahane, who is married to actor Ashutosh Rana, informed Mumbai Mirror that that a team of doctors reached Gupta within 15 minutes of her tweet to the railway minister, after which she was able to continue her journey to Mumbai without any issues.

"My sis-in-law Kamini Gupta, age 63, alone in train 82902 AC 2 seat 21 Delhi-Mumbai Suvidha Exp needs urgent medical help. Pls help sir," Shahane had tweeted to Prabhu.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Shahane said, "My sister-in-law was travelling alone from Delhi to Mumbai, and she contacted us around 7.30 pm Saturday, saying she was feeling very unwell. We advised her to not panic and try and locate a railway staffer, while I tweeted to Mr Suresh Prabhu for help. The train was approaching Kota station, and within minutes, I was contacted by the railway staff asking for her compartment and seat numbers. Such promptness in responding to passengers in need is commendable."

"All of a sudden, I experienced palpitations followed by pain in the chest. I asked fellow passengers to see if a ticket checker or other railway staffers were around, and contacted my family in Mumbai. Fortunately, we were just minutes away from Kota station where doctors treated me," Gupta said, while speaking to Mumbai Mirror. "I was given medicines and told to relax. I'm alright now," she added.

Shahahe thanked the railways for prompt action. "We are really grateful to Mr Prabhu and the railway management for helping us during distress," she told Mirror.
