Patil, who has been appointed the head of the state Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti, was trying hard to improve his Hindi, when a remark in the language did him in.
Patil, who had appointed a tutor to coach him in Hindi, has also been appointed the president of the state unit of the Nationalist Congress Party.
Interacting with the media last night, Patil reasoned that knowing Hindi was essential for his political survival. He said that his appointment as the head of the samiti would motivate him to further improve his Hindi.
