Acting on a tip off, Dadar Railway Protection Force (RPF) nabbed a tout, a 38-year-old woman collecting a bunch of tatkal tickets from a train attendant on Platform Number 6 of Central Railway on Wednesday.
According to an RPF official, Rahila Firoz Shaikh was standing at the platform to collect the tickets from a train coming from Solapur. "A team was at the platform when a train attendant handed over the bundle of tickets to Shaikh, and we caught her red-handed," the RPF official told SUNDAY MiD DAY.
The incident
Around 9.40 pm, 11302 Udyan Express arrived on platform number 6, where Shaikh was waiting. As soon as the train arrived, she immediately took the tickets from the attendant, who scurried away inside. "Shaikh stealthily shoved the tickets into her blouse. So, when our team checked her bag, they did not find anything," the official added.
Two women constables, Hansa Gupta and Nirmala Suryavanshi, saw her running away soon after and caught her and conducted a thorough check. That is when the RPF found 10 tickets, amounting to Rs 41,143, in her blouse. Even after arresting her, Shaikh tried to bribe the officials with money. She was produced in court and released on bail after paying a cash bond ofu00a0Rs 6,000 on Thursday.
Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Alok Bohra, Central Railway, said, "We have been conducting checks to keep a tab on such miscreants."u00a0
