Bollywood actress Preity Zinta paid a visit to Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria yesterday. She gave him the names of more witnesses who, she says, had seen industrialist Ness Wadia abuse and assault her. The visit was supposed to be kept under wraps, but when Zinta turned up at the police headquarters, media personnel were already present there.
Preity Zinta was accompanied by her mother to the police headquarters, where she met CP Rakesh Maria
The actress, whose mother accompanied her, gave the commissioner names of six foreigners who had seen the alleged incident in which Wadia abused and assaulted her, during the IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab on May 30. Zinta had filed a complaint with the Marine Drive police station.
The actress also asked Maria to let her leave the country, if she was not required for investigations, and the commissioner gave her permission. However, sources in the police department were quick to point out that Zinta didn't really need any permission to leave the country.
Meanwhile, the Marine Drive police investigating the case have got email statements from two foreigners who were present in the Garware pavilion that day and were named as witnesses in the case by Zinta.
The sources said she could have given the witness names to Additional CP Krishna Prakash or Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shisve. When asked if Wadia would be summoned, Maria replied, "We will examine the witnesses first and then take a call on it."
