Steel partitions between ladies, general compartments in place of existing bars after women commuters complain about lecherous men

That pervert in the general compartment will no longer be able to stare at you. And if he tries to, all he'll look at is a steel partition.

After several complaints from woman commuters about men ogling at them and passing vulgar comments, the Railways have decided to install a complete partition between the ladies and general compartments in all the new local Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC) trains.

The Railways will also put up the partitions in the existing MRVC trains they're the ones with the steel interiors.u00a0

Oops! A temporary partition had been installed between the ladies first and second class compartments last year instead of the general compartment. From now on, however, there will be a full steel partition between the general and ladies compartments in the new rakes

Currently, the partition consists of steel bars, giving passengers in the general compartment a clear view of the ladies compartment.

"We decided to carry out these changes after women commuters complained aboutu00a0 harassment.

We had to incorporate the design changes in the fresh lot of coaches," said an official of the Integral Coach Factory, which provides trains to the railways.

Yippee!

Women, but naturally, are happy. "It is annoying when men treat us like sexual objects. Someone in the general compartment always passes lewd remarks.
