The community is seeking a 5% reservation in education and jobs
Inspired by the Maratha community's âmook morcha' on quota issue, Muslims in Maharashtra's Latur and Ahmednagar yesterday turned up in huge numbers to stage a âsilent protest' demanding five per cent reservation in education and jobs. The Muslim morchas were held at Ausa in Latur district and at Rahuri and Rahata in Ahmednagar district.
The community has previously carried out similar rallies in Thane and Nashik also. Participants of the morcha held placards which stated: "We want reservation." Leaders belonging to the Other Backward Class (OBC) and volunteers form the Maratha community lent support to the Muslim morchas.
