Over 50 slum dwellers who will soon move into swanky SRA apartments in Worli, get a lesson in high-rise etiquette from the developers of the property
In what must rank as a first-of-its-kind workshop in the city, dozens of slum dwellers about to move into brand new apartments in south Mumbai's plush Worli area, were given a crash course on how to live in a high-rise building and use expensive gadgets.
The new skyscraper in Worli meant for slum dwellers
Residents of several slums in Worli, who are about to move into an apartment for the first time as part of a Slum Redevelopment Authority (SRA) project attended the workshop conducted by Omkar realtors.

The focus of the training session was to tackle issues such as where to throw the garbage, where to dry clothes, how to use lifts, not using mirrors in public areas and similar matters.
Vasant Kamble, a slum dweller, who will move in to his new home soon, said, "We were used to sewage water coming into our homes. But now, we will have cleaner homes and we will adhere to all rules." But the challenges are many. Most slum dwellers had questions about the western style toilets in the flats. Bharti Singh, who will also get a home in the new building soon, said the training process helped her in understanding how different life would be.
A whole new world
Kaushik More, director, Omkar Realtors & Developers said, "The prime objective of conducting the SRA educational programme for slum dwellers is to familiarise them with new living conditions and instill a sense of responsibility in them. The programme offers an insight into the radical social transformation they are set to experience."
