Students of Malad school write thank you letters to Army, Navy, Air Force jawans expressing their gratitude on the occasion of Independence day
This is surely a case of celebrating Independence Day the right way. Students of Ryan International School, Malad, who celebrated the occasion not just on August 15 but all of last week, sent out letters to Army, Navy and Air force jawans, reminding them that India knows of their sacrifice. The students of Standard 6, 7 and 8 wrote about 258 letters to the jawans, saluting their bravery, courage and conviction. "The whole process created a very strong sense of patriotism among all of us. I could see that across the class. There was a sense of gratefulness," said Janvi Verma, of Standard 8th.

The jawans at the border were told about this and the school has received an overwhelming response from the soldiers. "We contacted the commanding officers of INS Hamla and found that a contact with the soldiers at the borders could be made. We later got a call saying that the messages had been received and forwarded, and everyone is extremely proud to see students personally writing such heartwarming letters. They said it makes their job worthwhile," said Daizy Paul, the Principal.
The students had a better understanding of what it takes to guard the country as they watched documentaries about the freedom struggle in the past week. "The students were left teary eyed after watching the sacrifices made by our heroes," added Paul.
