While the two cops from Dindoshi police station allege the biker abused and assaulted them, CCTV footage shows the policemen brushing the bike from behind and later attacking the rider

After Patel's bike brushed against the cops' two-wheeler, the officers fell down. One of the two cops snatched the bike keys, while the other one attacked Patel

It seems Dindoshi has become the hotspot of bizarre incidents in recent times. In another such instance, an architect from Kandivali was beaten up by two police officers in full public view and was later held up at the police station for 12 hours following an FIR against him under false charges. Reason: His two-wheeler just brushed against the bike of the cops. However, what is strange is that the officers narrated a completely different version of the incident. Police have recorded the statements of both the parties and are investigating the matter further.

Physical assault
Architect Hussain Patel, who stays near the accident spot said, "While I was riding my bike, I suddenly felt something touched it from behind. I stopped the vehicle and turned around to find that two people travelling on another bike behind me had fallen down. Suddenly, one of them came and took away my vehicle keys, while the other started hitting me."

Patel claimed that he tried to call the police control room twice but nobody answered. A police van that was passing by the spot picked him up and took him to Dindoshi police station. It was only after he reached the police station that he came to know the two men were assistant police inspector Kiran Sanap and constable Rajesh Palande.

He further said, "They treated me like a criminal. I was kept at the police station for 12 hours and an FIR was lodged based on false charges. However, on my complaint, they just registered a non-cognizable offence against the cops."

Improper driving
In his statement to the police, API Sanap said, "Patel was driving in a wrong manner. He changed lanes without giving any signal. We got confused and hence the accident happened. Even after knowing that we are police officers, he continued fighting with us. He even called up his friend and gathered nearly 20-25 people at the spot, who started abusing us. He kicked us as well."

Based on Sanap's statement, the Dindoshi police registered an FIR against Patel under sections 279, 337, 323, 504, 506, 142 and 143 of IPC. A CCTV footage recovered from the accident spot shows the cops hitting Patel. Deputy commissioner of police, zone XII, Kiran Chauhan said, "We recorded the statements of both the parties and are conducting a fair investigation."
