The BMC this morning unveiled the recently restored 'V' milestone at Dr SS Rao Road near MD College in Parel.
Ramanath Jha, chairman of the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee, unveiled the 200-year-old structure.
The milestone's restoration was the effort of Vishwas Mote, assistant municipal commissioner of F-south ward, in conjunction with heritage conservationist Bharat Gothoskar.
The British-era milestone was discovered during a routine demolition drive against illegal hawkers. Civic officials took up the task of restoring it and putting up a board displaying its history and importance.
Mumbai is home to 13 milestones, but seven of these are missing. Five others are either in a state of ruin or have been encroached upon.
