With Mumbai's monorail project clearing its final hurdle, there is a possibility that monorail could be inaugurated on Republic Day.
MUMBAI: If everything goes according to plan, then it's just a matter of days before Mumbaikars can travel in the country's first monorail between Wadala and Chembur. The last hurdle to the Phase 1 of the Monorail has been cleared with the project getting final clearance from the retired Commissioner of Railways Safety (CRS), which means that the project can be thrown open for to the public anytime.
Confirming the same, Metropolitan Commissioner UPS Madan said, "On Monday, we received the final clearance from retired CRS which means that the phase-1 of monorail between Wadala-Chembur can be thrown open to the public. The retired CRS has given his report and recommendations which we will be now forwarding to the state government so that the government can come out with the final notification."
