Notes hidden in handbag
Speaking to mid-day, deputy commissioner of Customs, Airport Intelligence Unit, Pradnyasheel Jumle said, "We intercepted him after he had cleared the immigration process. He had hidden the notes in his handbag."
He simply forgot
According to rules, any resident of India carrying more than $5,000 in cash, has to mention it in the currency declaration form (CDF) of the Customs department at the time of arrival. However, during inspection, Yogesh claimed that around 20 days back he came to India to meet his family and he was carrying the same amount of cash, but he forgot to mention about it in the CDF.
Yogesh has been booked under section 108 (power to summon persons to give evidence and produce documents) of the Customs Act 1962. Jumle further said, "He has been summoned next Monday."
