Both of them are residents of Sevak Nagar in Sakinaka and have known each other for a long time.
Two weeks ago, Irshad had borrowed Rs 300 from Shamim. On November 17, Shamim asked Irshad to return the money. Irshad told the cops that he was facing a cash crunch due to demonetisation and he had promised to return Shamim's money in few days.
Accused was drunk
An officer from Sakinaka Police Station said, "On November 18, Shamim asked Irshad to return his Rs 300 as he was facing a cash crunch. Irshad was drunk at the time and got angry. Then, he picked up a knife from a fish stall nearby and attacked Shamim. Irshad slashed his throat and Shamim began bleeding profusely.
