Superstition drove a married man to kidnap a 13-year-old neighbour and rape her, to better his âfortune'.
The man, Pukhran Khan (30) was arrested by Mumbai Crime Branch on Friday. The officials said they received a complaint from the girl's parents on Thursday after she didn't return from school.
During investigation they found that Khan had taken her to Pune. They said Khan also convinced her to wear a burkha, and had removed the SIM card from his phone so they would not be traced.
"Khan told us that he had married a woman on instructions of his guru for better fortune, but she was not a virgin. The guru then instructed him to have intercourse with a virgin, after which he kidnapped his neighbour," said an official.
