After a 48-hour long manhunt, the Azad Maidan police arrested a man for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl while she was waiting at her school gate for her father. The accused was identified as Nadeem Khan (25).

In broad daylight
The incident took place around 2 pm on November 17. On reaching the school with his son, the girl's father asked them to wait at the gate, saying he would return after paying the fee. While he was waiting in the queue, he heard his daughter's screams and rushed out. The girl pointed to a man standing nearby and said that he had touched her inappropriately. Her father tried to catch hold of him, but he managed to escape.

The hunt
An officer said, "After a case was registered under relevant sections of POCSO Act, a manhunt was launched to nab the accused. He was identified with the help of the CCTV footage recovered from the area. We also got a clue that he is often seen near the Marine Lines station. A trap was laid and he was caught. He is a Tamil Nadu native and has been living in the city for years."

Khan was produced in a special court on Sunday and sent to police custody till Monday.
