A feisty 65-year-old woman foiled a robbery attempt by three men, who allegedly posed as police officers and tried to steal her gold ornaments. The incident occurred in Santacruz (west) on Saturday morning.
Hindustan Times, quoting the Santacruz police, said that the incident occurred around 11 am near Rajesh Khanna garden. According to the report, the woman, Nirmala Sakpal, is a resident of Gazdar band, and a domestic help by profession.

The Hindustan Times report stated that Sakpal was heading to work when her path was blocked by the three men. The trio posed as cops and instructed the woman to take out her gold ornaments and keep them in a handkerchief, stating that a robbery had occurred. Sakpal though was smart enough to realise that she was being bluffed, and screamed out for help. At this point, the thieves then tried to steal the gold from her. But, some passersby and patrolling beat marshals came to her aid.

All three accused Asif Sayyed (55), Assadulah Khan (35), and Kazi Jafri (26) have been arrested, and booked under sections 392 (punishment for robbery), 34 (common intention) and 170 (impersonating a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code, the Hindustan Times report further said.
