A 21-year-old security guard, who was arrested by Kurar police for allegedly molesting a 35-year-old woman COVID-19 patient in a private hospital at Malad, has also been tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The guard, Suraj Kochewad, was arrested by Kurar cops on Thursday when he went inside the ward and tried to rape the victim. However, she immediately pressed the emergency bell button, alerting the hospital staff.

The accused was arrested from the spot and as per the protocol by Mumbai Police, he was tested for COVID-19. The result of the test came on Saturday in which he has been tested positive.

"The accused is in police custody and now will be shifted to isolation. We have advised all the police officials and hospital staff to undergo COVID-19 test if they had come in contact of accused" said Babasaheb Salunkhe, senior inspector, Kurar police station. The accused has been booked under IPC sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 452 (House trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint).
