Three arrested after 25-year-old complains he was attacked when he stood up for a female friend, the victim of alleged harassment
Khar police on Saturday arrested three men accused of stabbing a 25-year-old businessman at Spirit pub in Khar (West) on Friday night. The police have identified the three accused as Farid Khan (26), Irfan Shaikh (25) and Prakash Murgesh (28).
They have been booked under relevant sections of the riots and attempt to murder acts. Senior police inspector Dattatray Bhargude of Khar police station said, "The incident took place at around 11 pm when a 24-year-old woman, who had come to the pub with four friends, got pushed by one of the accused. A brawl broke out between the two groups and they were asked to leave the pub by the bouncers."
The atmosphere worsened as they were leaving. He added, "That's when one of the accused attacked the complainants with a knife." The victims - cops don't wish to identify them since it will make the female guest's identity public - were stabbed in the stomach, eyes and hands.
The police are yet to ascertain the facts of the case, as they are clueless about which of the four accused harassed the woman inside the pub, and who was responsible for the stabbing. "The three people arrested claim they have neither harassed the woman nor stabbed the complainant. We will know once the five absconders in the case are arrested," said Bargude.
The two victims were taken to Bhabha Hospital in Bandra West where they are undergoing treatment. It is here that the police took the statement of the complainants.
