The 29-yr-old stole a policeman’s bike as building security guards often stopped him when he tried to enter the premises; he assumed a cop’s bike would help him sneak into buildings for committing thefts
A petty thief came up with a wild idea to steal a policeman's bike and use it to commit thefts in residential apartments. Security guards often stopped the thief when he tried to access the buildings. However, when he rode a cop's bike, he would gain smooth access by pretending to be on official duty.

The accused has more then 12 cases of housebreaking registered against him with the Saki Naka police station
However, his game was up when the VB Nagar police finally caught up with him last week. Officials nabbed the 29-year-old history sheeter from Saki Naka for stealing a constable's bike from Kurla in August, this year.
According to the police officials, the accused has been identified as Mohommad Imran Abdul Kalim Suleman Khan and is a resident of Saki Naka.
Speaking to mid-day, Assistant Police Inspector Chetan More from VB Nagar police station said, "The accused was arrested red-handed last week when he broke into a house near Sheetal Cinema at Kurla.
Khan sneaked inside a residence and fled with three mobile phones, after which the residents raised an alarm for help. As the patrolling police were available near the spot, the accused was chased and nabbed."
Long record
The cops alleged that the accused has a long history of housebreaking and always faced difficulty in getting inside the premises of a building, so he decided to solve the problem by stealing a police bike.
"The accused was always stopped by watchmen when he tried to get inside a building, so he thought that if he had a police bike, he would easily get inside a building stating some reasons like passport verification," said an officer, requesting anonymity.
On the day of the crime, when the cop's bike was stolen, the two patrolling constables had immediately sent the message via wireless after which patrolling units were stationed at several places. "After Khan noticed that a patrolling unit was stationed ahead, he just parked the bike at Ghatkopar, covered it with some banners he found nearby and escaped," added an officer.
The accused has been committing such crimes since 2004, and has been arrested several times. More than 12 cases of housebreaking have been registered against him at the Saki Naka police station.
The accused has been booked under Sections 379 (theft), 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment), 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 380 (theft in dwelling house, etc) of the IPC.
