A newly-wed bride was allegedly raped by her father-in-law just two months after she got married, when her husband was away at work. The Dahisar police has registered the case.

The incident took place on Thursday morning, after the 19-year-old survivor's husband had left for work.

"On Thursday morning, around 8 am, the victim's husband had left home for his job in Andheri. At that time, her father-in-law raped her at home and later ran away from there. The girl immediately informed her husband about the incident and registered the FIR with the Dahisar police station," said a police official.

Absconding
The accused has been absconding since the incident, and has been charged under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, according to Dilip Rupwate, assistant commissioner of police, Dahisar division.

The police officer added, "The accused had no previous criminal record, but according to the neighbours, his character wasn't too good. The victim also told us that she had not been happy about staying with her father-in-law, and had shared her insecurity with her husband earlier."
