Cops recovered the screwdriver used in the crime and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Ranjeet Chavan (22).

According to the police, the accused killed the victim in frustration, as the deceased repeatedly asked him to bring alcohol from a shop.

Both the accused and deceased, identified as Sandeep Dhamaskar (37), were residents of Raheja Township in Malad East. According to the police, on Friday night after work, Dhamaskar asked Chavan to get him alcohol from a shop and reminded him repeatedly when Chavan failed to comply. Dhamaskar bit Chavan in retaliation and the accused was badly injured.

A few minutes later, the accused got hold of a screwdriver and stabbed Dhamaskar nearly 26 times. After the incident, the building's residents nabbed the accused and handed him over to the police. Dhamaskar was taken to the trauma unit of a hospital at Jogeshwari East, where he was declared dead on arrival.
