A young woman is traumatised after her husband's best friend assaulted and raped her. The accused, who has been friends with her husband for many years, forcefully entered her house and raped her. When she raised an alarm, locals caught the man and handed him over to the Sahar police.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Mukesh Yadav. The woman's husband works in a private firm and Yadav works in a bar. Both hail from the same village in Uttar Pradesh and have known each other for the past few years. In fact, they came to Mumbai together in search of work and had even shared a room for a while.
Betrayal
A few months ago, Yadav's friend got married and shifted to another house with his wife, the survivor. A few days ago, the woman's husband left town for some work. On Wednesday, at around 12.15 am, Yadav came to his friend's house and knocked on the door. The woman had been sleeping then, and when she opened the door, she was shocked to see Yadav at such an unearthly hour. No sooner had the door opened, than Yadav forcefully entered the home.

He closed the door and forced himself upon his best friend's wife. When she put up a fight, Yadav started assaulting and thrashing her. He then proceeded to rape her, and threatened her with dire consequences should she speak of the incident to anyone.
When the accused was leaving the house, the survivor raised an alarm and shouted for help. Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed out and nabbed the fleeing Yadav. They handed him over to the Sahar police, but not before giving him a good hiding.
"Yadav was booked under sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint). He was produced in court on Wednesday and remanded in police custody till Sunday," said a police officer.
The woman, meanwhile, is in a complete state of shock knowing that it was her husband's closest friend who committed the heinous crime.
