An officer from Navghar police station said, on condition of anonymity, "The accused was following the girl since a week and used to pass lewd comments on her. After the complainant approached us on Saturday, we picked up Gaikwad. But his brothers followed him to the police station.
They started threatening the cops and even manhandled a constable, Manoj Kamble." Gaikwad also damaged some property by breaking the glass of a cupboard inside the police station. Kamble told sunday mid-day, "When I started forcing them out, they attacked me but my colleagues came to my rescue."
Though Gaikwad has been arrested, his brothers and friend managed to flee from the spot. Senior police inspector Ramdas More said, "Gaikwad has been booked for molestation. He and his three accomplices have also been booked for manhandling a constable." He will be produced in Bhoiwada court today.
