Changez Multani was arrested after he was found guilty in the 2012 case, where he played a crucial role in forcing the 13-year-old teenager to marry the man who raped her

The Amboli police arrested acting corporator of ward no 53 Changez Multani on Saturday morning after a Special Investigation Team (SIT) found him guilty in the rape case of a 13-year-old girl. Multani has been remanded to custody till August 22. Though Multani has not been accused of rape, a case has been registered against him for rape, child marriage, criminal intimidation and common intention as he played a crucial role in forcing the girl to marry her rapist.

The incident occurred in 2012 when the main accused (the rapist) allegedly entered the 13-year-old girl's house. He threatened to kill her if she complained to her family. The incident came to light when the girl was eight months pregnant. The girl married her rapist and gave birth to a baby boy. However, in the latter half of 2013, the rapist left the girl and fled to Dubai.

Finally, the girl's father moved the Bombay High Court stating that Multani forced him to enter into a settlement with the accused.

Soon, the SIT was formed and ACP Samadhan Dhanedar began investigating the case. He arrested three people in the case including the rapist. On Saturday morning, Multani too was arrested by the cops and presented in the
Sessions court.
