Mumbai: As the city gears up for New Year festivities, the Mumbai police have stepped up the vigil and asked citizens to refrain from drunken driving.
Mumbai Police Commissioner Ahmed Javed tweeted, "It's better to call for a driver than to call for an ambulance. Don't drink and drive! On #AlertMumbaiSafeMumbai".
"A special video clip has been prepared and uploaded on You Tube to sensitise people about drinking and driving", Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Dhananjay Kulkarni said.
Police will check drunken driving at 90 locations across the mega polis. "35,000 police personnel will be deployed tomorrow and their leaves have been cancelled," an official said.
