A group of seven from Mumbai created a record by being the first from the city to reach the Gorur Dome summit in Uttarakhand, which is 20,564 feet above sea level, and one of the least explored mountains. The team completed the expedition in eight hours on August 21, and returned to Mumbai on Saturday evening.

Ketki Deshmukh, an Ambarnath resident, became the first Indian woman to complete it. The group left for the expedition on August 6, and completed a trek to the Valley of Flowers, before starting towards the base camp on August 11. They reached the base camp on August 14, and started the trek at 12.30 am on August 21.

"Since the dome is rarely trekked, we did not get a chance to consult those who had previously taken the route. We, therefore, consulted people who completed nearby summits.Due to this, we weren't sure if we were taking the right route till the end," says Deshmukh.
