Gopi Suresh Verma's partially burnt Aadhaar card
The body of the sole victim of Saturday's fire at the Cinevista studio in Kanjurmarg was recovered from the charred debris on Sunday morning. The deceased, Gopi Suresh Verma, 20, a technician, was identified by his father Swaroop Kumar with the help of his Aadhaar card and mobile handset. Verma was working as an audio assistant at the studio. Though the rest of the cast and crew were rescued, he got trapped inside the fire. No one knew he was there until the police found his body. It was taken to the Rajawadi Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
On Sunday, Swaroop Kumar had gone to the spot and informed the police that his son was missing. They later found the burnt body, identified through the half-burnt Aadhaar card. Dr Vidya Thakur, medical superintendent at Rajawadi Hospital said, "The body was charred beyond recognition. As per the initial forensic report, burns are the cause of his death. Samples have been collected and sent to the Kalina forensic laboratory for further investigation."
