Mumbai Rains: Heavy flooding, water-logging at western and eastern suburbs

The city spent a lazy Sunday indoors with heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours throwing Mumbai out of gear once again - heavy flooding was witnessed at Andheri subway and outside National college in Bandra West


The city spent a lazy Sunday indoors with heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours throwing Mumbai out of gear once again - heavy flooding was witnessed at Andheri subway and outside National college in Bandra West, according to BMC's Disaster Management Cell. Others places where water-logging was reported were Worli, Bandra, Kurla, Andheri and some eastern suburbs.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Sudhir Naik said, "All six pumping stations have been made operational to make sure that rainwater recedes fast. Ward officials have been directed to keep a watch on the situation."

As per BMC figures, from August 19 to 20, western suburbs recorded 91.06 mm rain, island city 31.54 mm and eastern suburbs 30.75 mm.
