India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials the intensity of rainfall may weaken from the end of July with many parts of Maharashtra except Konkan experiencing subdued or no rainfall for about 10 days. Weather experts suggest this trend will continue till August 10.
According to The Times of India, sources at the IMD believe monsoon activity may weaken from July 22-23 over most parts of Maharashtra.

They term this 'break phase' in the monsoon as a normal activity, after the rains were active for 10-15 days in July, and that it would not be possible for the monsoon current to enter the Indian mainland from the Arabian Sea post that.
Furthermore, wind speed will see a reduction after a decline in pressure gradient over India, which will happen around the end of July.

IMD's forecast predicts rainfall may decrease in interior parts of Maharashtra, which will take place by Saturday or Sunday at the latest. There was adequate rainfall in central India and north peninsular India thus far due to the presence of two low pressure systems over the Bay of Bengal, say meterologists.
