A hotel in Kalyan was raided by the anti-human trafficking cell of the Thane Police on Wednesday where a sex racket was uncovered. Six hotel staffers were arrested and four women rescued. One of the rescued women was a Bangladeshi national, who had a valid passport and visa.
Police found that the establishment, Relax Hotel and Garden, was owned by BJP corporator Nitin Patil's wife Ranjana Patil.

According to The Times of India, police have summoned Ranjana Patil for questioning to ascertain whether she was aware of the flesh trade occurring at her hotel.
Ranjana's husband BJP corporator Nitin Patil has revealed that they had rented the hotel on a clause that the owners will not be held responsible in the event of any illegal activity.

After receiving a tip-off one of the police officers infiltrated the establishment by posing as a customer. He then alerted fellow officers, who raided the place and arrested the staff members.

Among the arrested, who have been sent to a 3-day police custody, were the bar's manager Harishchandra Shetty (57), cashier Rahul Dutt, and waiters Satyanarayan Pal (42), Ramakanat Mahant (28), Vijay Shetty and Vigyan Shamal (35).
