As per Sunil Bhosale, senior police inspector at Chunabhatti police station said that the note was written in Marathi and said that the man had taken a loan of Rs 3000 a few months and was unable to pay it back. He added, "The man wrote in the note that the three harassed him daily for the money. On Wednesday, the matter went out of his hands when they defamed him in front of their colony and broke the petrol tank of his motorcycle,"

The police added that on Wednesday, the three men intercepted him and assaulted him. They threatened him saying that if they told their boss about the loan he would not be able to live in the city. "The man could not take the harassment and committed suicide on Saturday morning. Based on a complaint filed by one of their other colleagues, we have registered a case against the three painters and arrested them after we found the suicide note."
