Mumbai's Members of Parliament (MP) met Central Railway authorities on Wednesday to discuss some of the issues faced by commuters.
They stressed on the need to raise the height of platforms at suburban stations; CCTVs for women's safety at platforms and inside trains, speeding up compensation for accident victims and introducing additional suburban train services.
Sources said that MP Kirit Somaiya discussed the issue of platform height, illegal stalls at railway stations and structures at parking lots at their premises.
MP Arvind Sawant said: "There is urgent need to complete work on Parel Terminus, Road Over Bridge at Sewri, improved toilet facilities for women commuters."
Meanwhile, MP Majid Memon asked the CR authorities to expedite augmenting the train capacity to 12-cars on Harbour Line and also improve station premises. MP Bhalchandra Mungekar, meanwhile, suggested that cleanest railway station should be given an award and emergency medical rooms at stations be expedited.
