The city — sliced, diced and served with a dash of sauce
This one's for grandpa

Curated by the grand master chef, the lavish spread included Kakori and Galouti Kebabs, Dum Pomfret Motiyan Mussalam, Dum Katahal (jackfruit) Biryani, Shahi Tukda and a homemade chutney made from mint and jaggery, native to Lucknow's countryside. Pic/Onkar Devlekar
What's up, Mumbai?
Mumbaikars get a taste of the city's architecture at the ongoing Look Up Mumbai exhibition that displays fisheye lens images of ceilings of famous city landmarks. Held at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Vastu Maharaj Sangrahalaya (CSMVS), a cool viewing couch has been installed to enjoy these visuals inside a temporary dome. Jeet's in the house
For all those who relish Jeet Thayil's poetry and have been waiting for him to return to Mumbai for a gig, there's good news. The Hive and PEN will host a poetry reading session this Saturday, where the poet-novelist will read from his new title, Collected Poems (Aleph) along with other poets, writers, curators, filmmakers and artists.
Jeet Thayil
Cover of the new title
Here's a teaser that we've reproduced from the preface: "....I am fifty-five years old. Time, once a friend, is now the enemy. Each day is a gift that must be returned. I live in a rented house in a large Indian city. The thick air is alive with chemicals. Chaos is my friend and closest neighbour. This is my life and these are my collected poems. There is nothing collected about any of it." Don't miss this one.
Bahubali, the comic book
After breaking box office records, SS Rajamouli's Bahubali is ready to make its entry into comic books and as an animation film. Director Rajamouli announced yesterday that he is working with comic book publisher Graphic India to create a series of digital comics, novels and a video game, which will be released later this year.
Based on the details that this diarist has, an animation film on the epic character Bahubali is also in the pipeline. We were told that the new content will see Bahubali facing dangers lurking in dense forests, epic mountain tops, raging seas as well as hidden underground caves.
The comic and animation film will take him to different kingdoms, where he will fight strange and deadly warriors, save villages from tyrannical warlords and rescue the innocent from certain death.
No cringe sex education
Filmmaker and writer Paromita Vohra's venture, the multimedia website, Agents of Ishq, devoted to talking about love, sex and desire in different ways, has released their first video.
This sex education video with a difference talks about sex with Indian examples in a candid, affectionate and humourous way. Vohra says, the idea behind this video was the fact that the available material on sex education was really boring and hardly ever involved Indian bodies.
"We made it in collaboration with Dharavi based NGO SNEHA's adolescent sexuality program. Our conversations with sex-educators, teachers, parents and just everyone had shown that there just isn't enough Indian video material to use for sex-ed, and we wanted to make something fun, desi, with Indian bodies and an affection for the body incorporating wider ideas of science and gender. When talking about Indians it is important that we talk about Indian bodies to help people identify and improve their relationship with their bodies," says Vohra. She added that more fun videos are in the offing, which adults and children can watch together.

She's on the Hindi-Indie road
Writers can make music too. Nirmika Singh, Indie musician better known for her live act, Nirmika & The Few Good Men, is now out with her solo EP, Jhoothe that features three tracks sung in her trademark Hindi acoustic, Pop vocals.
This diarist recalls interacting with Singh who wrote on music in some of the city's leading publications but admitted that making music was always her first love. Staying true, she did.
