Online friends
In her statement to the police, the girl said that she had accepted a friend request on the social networking site from the accused, identified as Jenal Chheda. The two had been chatting on the site for a couple of months and then exchanged their phone numbers a few weeks ago, after which they would message each other on WhatsApp. Jenal then invited the teenager to meet him on November 27.
Jenal took her to his residence in Dombivli and after talking to her for a while, forced himself on her. When the girl resisted, he told her that he'd saved screenshots of their intimate WhatsApp conversations and would post them on social media, which would land her in trouble with her family. He then proceeded to rape her.
FIR registered
Once the girl left from Jenal's home, she went to the DB Marg police station to lodge an FIR in the matter. The cops took her for a check up at a nearby hospital, after which they lodged an FIR in the matter.
