The police have registered an FIR after a Juhu-based builder received an extortion call allegedly made by a close aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
Called from Spain number
The caller asked for Rs 10 crore. Police said extortionists generally use Pakistan or Malaysia-based numbers to make extortion calls, but this time the caller had used a Spain number.
First call
According to sources, Juhu police have registered the FIR against the person who identified himself as Fahim, and he had also used Chhota Shakeel's name in the extortion call. The builder is one of the directors at a construction company. He received the first call on July 27 at around 5:30 PM. Police said the caller allegedly told him that 'since your business is going well, make us happy, otherwise you know the consequences', and demanded Rs 10 crore.
He ignored the calls but till August 2, the caller made several more such calls. The Juhu police have registered the FIR under Section 385 (Putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) of IPC and the case has been transferred to the Anti-Extortion Cell for further investigation.
