While the victim, Kanu Jadhav, was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, some of the eyewitnesses caught hold of the accused and handed him over to the Government Railway Police (GRP). The GRP registered a murder case against him and arrested him.

According to the police, around 4 pm on Monday, Jadhav had a heated argument with accused Dhananjay Sinha alias Modi, as both of them wanted to sit at the same spot. The argument led to a fight and Sinha brutally assaulted Jadhav.
