Mumbai Crime: Tantrik's accomplice in TV actress rape case arrested

Police have managed to capture the accomplice in the case of alleged rape of a 27-year-old TV actress, who was also conned of Rs 26 lakh.

mid-day's report on May 13 on how Ismail Azim Khan had gone to the actress' residence to perform a puja, after which he allegedly raped her

The accused, Bhagwandas, had introduced the complainant to another ‘tantrik', Ismail Azim Khan, and assured her that she would win a flat in a MHADA lottery. The survivor told police that Bhagwandas had also attempted to rape her, but she managed to save herself.

mid-day had reported how Bhagwandas, who introduced himself as a tantrik in May 2013, had given false promises to the actress that she would win the MHADA flat after she performed a puja at her home. He introduced her to Khan and the duo went to the actress' residence to perform the puja, after which Khan allegedly raped her.

Police had arrested Khan on May 9, after the actress had registered the complaint with Charkop police. Bhagwandas, a Mahim resident, suffers from diabetes and cannot walk properly. Cops have not yet recovered the Rs 26 lakh that the actress had given to them as an offering.
