Police said the woman talked back to her employer regularly; tired of her behaviour, her boss discontinued her services, due to which accused allegedly stole Rs 1.13 lakh in jewellery as revenge
A house help who decided to avenge her sacking by robbing her employer's ornaments was arrested by the police. The woman's employment had been discontinued due to her rude behaviour. Dadar police arrested the accused within two weeks of the theft. According to the police, the accused was identified as Prajakta Pawar (23), who had applied for a house help's job through a placement agency in Bhandup.
The agency posted her to one Ashawari Joshi's residence in Dadar. Assistant Police Inspector Deepali Kulkarni from Dadar police station said, "Pawar had joined this job only two months ago. Her employer got fed up of her rude behaviour and her back-answers, and hired another help." Angry at getting the sack, Pawar then decided to exact revenge by stealing jewels.
On September 29, the accused and her employer had a bitter argument after which Pawar's services were terminated. "The following day, Joshi found some of her ornaments missing. She then decided to register a police complaint," Kulkarni added. The stolen jewels were worth Rs 1.13 lakh. Police then made inquiries with the placement agency, who told them Pawar was originally from Ratnagiri but was currently put up in Virar.
They also got her picture. Cops had also checked the Call Details Records of Pawar's phone, which pointed to her location as Virar. "We then asked the agency to call the maid to Dadar on the pretext of offering her a good job. The accused fell for the trap and was arrested last week," Kulkarni explained.
Pawar has been booked under Section 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession) of the Indian Penal Code. She was produced in court and was released on bail. Police have also managed to recover all the stolen jewellery from the Virar residence of Pawar's uncle.
