Two men, identified as Shrinivas Sundarvardhan (28) from Tamil Nadu and S Krishna (25) from Kerala, who work with an automobile company in Mumbai, had come to Copa pub in Vile Parle in the wee hours of Sunday.
When done, the pub handed them a bill of Rs 14,000, which they refused to pay alleging that the pub was overcharging them. This argument soon turned into a brawl between the men and the pub staff. The pub management then called for police assistance.
A police team, comprising a woman constable, reached there and tried to resolve the matter by requesting both Shrinivas and Krishna to accompany them to the police station. The men, who were drunk, then began arguing with the cops as well and refused to cooperate.
"While this was on, the two men allegedly pushed the cops and one of them allegedly touched the woman constable inappropriately when she was trying to solve the matter," said a police official. General Manager of Copa pub Shahjahan Hussain refused to comment.
Cops forcefully took the men to the police station and booked them under Sections 354 (Outraging modesty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
