A senior police officer was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of R3 lakh from a production house employee in a hotel in RC Church area yesterday.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested Subhash Krishna Chavan (58), senior inspector of MHB police station, in a hotel in RC Church area in Colaba.
The production house office is built illegally, and taking advantage of that, Chavan had been harassing them. He used to ask them to bring their office's documents and later extort money.
"Since he is about to retire, he tried to extort a huge amount but an employee of the production house who wasn't willing to pay approached us," said Kishore Jadhav, head, ACB Mumbai region.
The ACB then set up a trap to nab Chavan, and after he took the bribe at the hotel, they arrested him.
