Mumbai Crime: Catering staffer stabs colleagues, kills one of them

A 35-year-old man has been arrested for stabbing two of his colleagues near CP tank in Girgaum. One of the victims of the assault, Suraj Patel, died on the spot, while his uncle Ramesh Patel was injured and is currently recuperating in J J Hospital.

The accused, Anwar Nasaruddin Shaikh (35), was nabbed by the locals and handed over to the cops.

According to the police, the trio worked with a caterer and was working on an order in Malad on Tuesday, when 22-year-old Suraj and Sheikh had an argument. The heated exchange ended with Suraj assaulting Sheikh.

On Wednesday, at around 5.30 pm, when Suraj was standing with his 50-year-old uncle, the accused arrived with a knife and stabbed the duo several times.

While Suraj died on the spot, Ramesh was severely injured and taken to the hospital.

The police have booked Shaikh under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and have remanded him to police custody till May 29.
