A gang of three serial robbers was arrested after cops received information about their whereabouts on Tuesday. The accused, Akil Mujlum Khan (22), Estraiel Ismail Sheikh (24) and Mohammad Salim Afaat Ali Shaha (35), have admitted to two recent robberies in JJ Marg and Nagpada area where they stole close to Rs 1 lakh.
Setting the trap
On Tuesday, the Property Cell of Mumbai Crime Branch received information that the trio was at Shivdi area. A team laid a trap for the accused and arrested them. Police Inspector Nandkumar Gopale said, "We have arrested the three men who were involved in the robbery cases of J J Marg and Nagpada that occurred this month. They have admitted to their crime and we are currently investigating to see if they were involved in other cases."
The Crime Branch will soon hand over the trio to JJ Marg and Nagpada police station where cases have been registered under sections 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking), 457 (lurking house trespass or house-breaking by night) and 380 (theft in dwelling house) of the Indian Penal code.
