Gaikwad, attached with the Protection and Security branch, was bodyguard to the former MLA, when he amassed most of the assets by using his proximity with the NCP leader, ACB officials told mid-day. Gaikwad's wife Manisha has also been booked. ACB stated that after receiving a complaint against Gaikwad, a thorough investigation was carried out which revealed that from January 1, 2008 to November 30, 2014, Gaikwad and his wife own flats, jewellery and have bank balance worth Rs 2,77,16,932, which is 882.9 per cent more than his known source of income, the ACB claims.

"During the said period Gaikwad served as bodyguard to the NCP leader, he made full use of his proximity to him," an ACB official said, adding, that ACB would check if the NCP leader was aware of Gaikwad's deeds.
