Mumbai: Congress corporator's purse robbed at birthday party in club

Congress corporator and women's wing president, Sheetal Mhatre, was a victim of theft on Wednesday, when her purse was stolen while she was wishing actress Urvashi Solanki at her birthday party.

According to a source, Urvashi held her birthday party at Royalista Club in Andheri. The Amboli police said they are in the process of lodging a complaint.

The police said that in the CCTV footage, it is seen that after the Congress leader went to meet her friend, a man came towards the table where her belongings were kept, and picked up her purse. The man is then seen leaving the premises comfortably.

Urvashi said that she was busy with guests when the theft happened. She said, "While a few guests were around the tables, some were with me. Sheetal came to wish me and then a few minutes later when she went back, she found her purse missing. We searched for it, but when we couldn't find it, I called the club management to go through the CCTV footage. We saw the thief in action. However, I do not know him and I had not invited him."

Later she said she informed the police about the incident.
